Religion

On Tuesday we celebrate our Year 1 Para Liturgy with the theme ‘I am special’. Our differences are what makes us different and unique and God created us each different, with a purpose and gift. All the gifts he given us allows us to show love to others in many ways. What a fantastic way to acknowledge and appreciate our differences.

Literacy

‘Hey Little Ant’ is the persuasive video we have been viewing this week. The video gives both reasons for and against the little ant being squished by the young boy. Once we had viewed the video we formed a class decision to keep the ant alive for all the reasons the ant gave. We learnt how to plan for writing a persuasive text by filling in a graphic organiser and later constructed a two star persuasive writing piece using our knowledge of structure, sequencing language and powerful sentences. We are preparing for our BIG WRITE next week, talk for homework went home and we got a chance to talk with our family about ‘For’ or ‘Against’ reasons, recording them to help with our planning and writing for BIG WRITE!

Numeracy

We are learning to tell the time to the hour and half hour. We have been enjoying the sunshine and using our large outdoor clock to make different times.

Science

In science this week we grouped animals according to their external common features. We then labelled a dinosaur and it’s features as well as a fern’s features, the type of plant dinosaurs ate.

Integrated Studies

In Integrated Studies this week we talked about our natural constructed and managed environment and the types of emergencies that can occur in these environments. We discussed what feelings we experience during situations where we are scared and talked about how to act and the steps to take when in an emergency. We had a special visit from the aviation fire services on Wednesday. Please Check out our facebook post for photos.
